John Archibald Wheeler said, ”We live on an island surrounded by a sea of ignorance. As our island of knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance.”
Makes me wonder if he spent much time standing by the sea. As I view this image it occurs to me that waves are still lapping their way to shore at this very moment. Do you ever think about things like that?
A beautiful image of sea and shore. I agree with you. Ignorance keeps making inroads in our culture just as the sea forever sends waves at the shore.
Un arbre vert avec une nature morte quelle vue quelle plage et image ces racines sueprbe
Belle soirée
Such a beautiful view captured here from the shoreline!! Very well composed!
magnifique point de vue.
nice off-center composition and interesting wood shapes created by the exposed roots and fallen branches.
yes, knowing what you don’t know is as important as knowledge
This is certainly a lovely, lovely, image, Sherri! Where is this?
Jolie composition, j’aime beaucoup ces arbres tordus.
Kinda like when there’s a sound in the forest when a tree falls? YES, I do, Sherri. I love soulful scenes like this that stay in my mind’s eye.
Yes, I do. I really like this picture, and can imagine it changing with the weather and the size of the seas
as an island dweller the sea is important to me.
C’est vraiment magnifique cette phrase et très belle photo
This seems to me a wonderful place to rest and enjoy the sea.
Beautiful photo with a well chosen composition.

The beach is a canvas that is wiped clean twice a day and a great place to clear the mind. Nicely composed
NO matter how much we know, there is so much more to learn. Beautifully illustrated here.
such a beautiful seascape framed with that gnarly old tree on the beach Sherri….peter:)
A lovely shot, Sherri.
beautiful picture!! reminds me of the movie ‘Castaway’ for some reason…
and yes, i do think about stuff like that… makes me wonder if God ever counts as an observer 🙂
It too reminded me of that movie (see above) (!) 😉 the sea giveth and the sea taketh….
Douceur exprimée… Mouvement des troncs… Bravo Sherry.
What I really like is how the shapes of the clouds repeat those of the trees. A very poignant quote by John Archibald Wheeler.
A beautiful image of the sea. I do think that things just keep going on even though we are not there.
A peaceful image.
oh yes, I do think of such things, especially when mesmerized by the ebb and flow.
