Marilla says that a large family was raised in that old house long ago and that it was a really pretty place, with a lovely garden and roses climbing all over it. It was full of little children and laughter and songs, and now it is empty, and nothing ever wanders through it but the wind. How lonely and sorrowful it must feel! Perhaps they all come back on moonlit nights, the ghosts of the little children of long ago and the roses and the songs and for a little while the old house can dream it is young and joyous again.

yes, it must have been (and still is) a handsome property at one time, Sherri
i was raised in a house with nine children Sherri… the house wasn’t as luxurious as this one but Lucy’s words describe the goings on in a large family very well.. good treatment….peter:)
Kids are hard on a house. That one put up with all it could. 😉
What a wonderful home it must have been… Lovely! Your photo certainly depitcs the ghosts that may be visiting!
that quote makes me want to cry! And I can almost see the ghosts in your picture! well done, you xox
A spooky atmosphere in this photo, well done a successful result.
Une maison pleine de vie à l’époque et devenue mystérieuse !…
J’aime la forme des toits.
I don’t think your quote was about this particular hous, but your low tech, light leaked image fits it well.
If houses could could only talk, what tales they could tell. There has been a TV programme on here recently tracing the stories of the owners of an individual house. It was fascinating
It still is pretty. I’d be more than happy to have it 🙂
Wecan easily imagine with this beautiful iamge of the house and its garden !
Du mouvement dans le ciel et ce jeu de LUMIÈRE quel effet SUPERBE
Belle soirée
There really IS a sense from your image, Sherri, that this WAS “once” a grand place, full of activity. It’s strange how we can actually “read” a house like that.
cool what you’ve done here. reminds me of those old polaroids.
