The Old Courthouse
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Clock: A machine for measuring time, indicating the hour and other divisions by means of hands moving on a dial plate. Its works are moved by a weight or a spring, and it is often so constructed as to tell the hour by the stroke of a hammer on a bell. It is not adapted, like the watch, to be carried on the person.
I am not sure why or how you watermarked this image with the text subject and location. I do like the composition and the execution, though the text makes it feel like a postcard.
i frequently use typography in my images because i like to
it’s not to watermark them as in a copyright watermark
it’s just part of my vision for the image
I like courthouses. I have never seen this one. Good shot.
Superbe tout avec ces horloges blanches très très pointu le sommet génail.
amitié
It is a fine early 19th century building Sherri
An interesting building.
Une belle photo
I like the light and the quaint feel of this image.
A nice view on this old building , Phil
I like how you interpreted the image, like a vintage print.
A beautiful capture of this impressive old courthouse.
Beautiful photographed, it is quiet on the street.
I think my favourite part is the way the clouds seem to open up for the buildings and clock tower.
A lovely view of the old courthouse. I have always liked clock towers.
Magnifique architecture, bel angle de prise.
I like the stillness of the town’s centre , beautiful old buildings.
Quel beau building, superbe! Que ta journée te soit belle et plaisante, bisou!
i think it is a superb image, well composed and a beautiful day to be outside, Sherri.
Clock towers are so European, Sherri, so when I see them in America, I smile. I wonder how old this one is?!
this one was built in 1905 to replace “Old Main” which was built in 1875
Splendid use of light to highlight the clock tower and facade!! Excellent PoV as well.
It all looks very still and calm, time standing still.
don’t you think the word ‘watch’ is kind of creep for an inanimate object? 🙂
i love this pic, the clock tower building reminds me of the court house in ‘My Cousin Vinny’
that would figure because that movie was filmed in Georgia
we are due west of Georgia so the builders would have built the same style they were accustomed to seeing and knowing how to build
I like the constrast between this church the hurt bell tower and the building which is next to it, as a big cube of sad stone
it’s not a church building, it’s a courthouse
the other buildings; which i agree to not be very pretty, are influenced by the structures of the western USA
Arkansas was called “the gateway to the west” when pioneers were traveling to California
the sky really has given focus to the clock tower. The image has a real feel of history.
Great definition.
