I think about photographs as being full, or empty. You picture something in a frame and it’s got lots of accounting going on in it. Stones and buildings and trees and air, but that’s not what fills up a frame. You fill up the frame with feelings, energy, discovery, and risk, and leave room enough for someone else to get in there.
– Joel Meyerowitz said that
This is almost an abstract with the soft focus and I really like it
A beautiful image… FULL of color and softness and interest.
I think Joel Meyerowitz was one of the underrated photographers of his time. Sure, people know about him, but not the majority of photographers I’d say. Although media tends to consider him only a street photographer, he photographed everything — and well. I love what he said here about letting someone else get in there.
A lovely image of the fungus though I admit I have no idea what the name of it is. There are so many!
Excellent close-up of these radiating fungi! The shallow DoF works well here.
well, i’m glad you took this particular ‘risky’ shot… it’s quite beautiful… lichen is a neat word, don’t you think? xoxoxoxoxoxoxox
Wonderful image, Sherri, bursting of springtime expectations! And the Meyerowitz quote goes very well with this photograph.
Yes, you are totally right with photographic feelings
Lichen is a perfect subject for this quote, Sherri, because of how it makes me feel every time I see it.
Beautifully captured.
nice photo of the fungus growing on the bark of the tree Sherri…
i like Joel Meyerowitz prose… i have one more to add…
“it’s not the camera that makes the photo… it’s the eye behind the lens”
,,,,peter:)
A lovely image of the fungus and bokeh.
the cycle of nature shows the wood returning to nurture the next generation
A wonderful quote. It says so much. This is a beautiful image of the tree fungus.
Somehow I missed your site over the last while.
Very cool shot.
I has a Meyerowitz book back in the 70s that was very inspiring. I wish I hadn’t lent it out. After over 40 years it is probably time it was returned. 🙂
Joli champignon très décoratif.
Superb macro of the mushrooms on the trunc . I like this text of Meyerowitz especially ” …leave room enough for someone else…”
Magnifique macro sur ces superbes champignons.
nice bracket fungus capture
