The places we have known do not belong only to the world of space on which we map them for our convenience. None of them was ever more than a thin slice, held between the contiguous impressions that composed our life at that time; the memory of a particular image is but regret for a particular moment; and houses, roads, avenues, are as fugitive, alas, as the years.
— Marcel Proust said that
A neat shot of this old house that looks well kept.
That has such a deep meaning. The image goes so well with it.
Spectacularly apt quote. This looks like anybody’s gramma’s back door (yeah, I know), but we can all both relate and wonder about it
A glimpse of a house that makes us want to see more
Not always a regret I think, sometimes a treasure. If this picture houses a memory it feels it could be a good one.
thin timeless slices… that hold all the energy and all the meaning… lovely picture size, btw 🙂 yay!!
Très belle entrée verdoyante et blanche superbe
Belle soirée

Beautiful ! That’s true …
A beautiful and successful matching photo.
jolis arbres et leur reflet dans la vitre.
not sure if it is my eye or if the door is truly a bit saggy away from the hinge. nice shot, Sherri.
A real sense of vintageness in something as simple as a storm door. It would be hard to find one as ornate in your typical hardware store these days. A great find to accompany a great quote.
I really like the image and quote. This weekend I got to see a little house that was important to me years ago. It was still standing, but painted a horrible green color. “…houses, roads, avenues, are as fugitive, alas, as the years.” How true.
I like your shot of this entryway – with the draping of the tree to one side. A very deep thought in that quote…
Une très belle image, pour cette superbe citation.
