you drink a coca-cola from a bottle, wash it out, fill it with water and cork it with this thingamajig
then, you sprinkle the water on clothes, sheets, pillowcases, etc., place those items in a plastic bag and let them sit for a couple of hours. after this, you iron the clothes, sheets, pillowcases, etc.
this was the process before steam irons were invented
my job was to iron the pillow cases and my dad’s white handkerchiefs
I imagine a child. That child is me. I can reconstruct and vividly remember portions of my own childhood. I can see, taste, smell, feel, and hear them.

Simple et belle composition.
I remember my mother doing this, but she did it by hand. Everything had a set way of being ironed in those days
Really artistic composition, Phil
Une superbe photo ! j’adore ++++++
Superb composition ! I didn’t know “thingamajig”… but it means something you don’t know the name …!!With your description I imagine something like to starch …I saw making it with some water and some sugar cooking in a pan …
Cool quelle bonne idée, c’est génial! Bise, bon jeudi dans la joie et la tendresse!
You composition tells the story in this simple image. I like it.
Personally I would skip drinking the coke 🙂
The worst part would be drinking the coca cola
A great storyline behind this photograph!! I love this minimalist composition.
A artistic photo as a result.
I had forgotten all about this sprinkler. My mom used these way back in the day.
An authentic artistic composition. Minimalist and beautiful
Beyond the original image, I was wondering what it could do, thanks for showing it to me.
I enjoy the story behind your image. I still iron, though only the ‘essentials’ like his shirts and the occasional blouse.
