Since the beginning, Americans have raced toward the horizon: building, rebuilding, and discarding. All across America we have left abandoned, like carcasses after the feast, that which only yesterday was state-of-the-art invention.
— David Plowden said that
It is time to stop striving for the so-called american dream and live within the means of the world.
That is so true. I have seen that more in small towns in the mid west. A wonderful image. I really like the tones and the shadows.
Radio Shack’s motto once was “everything we sell was state of the art at one time.” (Or so I heard). You can see where that got them (bankrupt)! I love this sky, and the quaint bui;dings beneath it reek of nostalgia.
This is a timeless image, played out all across the country.
The statement is sad, but true. Your image feels lonely – I always feel badly for abandoned homes.
Belle composition. Mais pourquoi abandonner de si belles maisons ?
No doubt is was once home to families that have now moved on and away. If it could talk it could tell some stories
Une très belle prise de rue et toujours ton très beau traitement !
yes the tear down culture. Excellent sky
Que c’est dommage, cette petite maison pourrait être tellement jolie… Bise, bonne journée dans la joie et la tendresse!
I like the mood of this image created by the color and light.
I like the tones and shadows in this fine shot.
“Faded glory,” we say here in Holland.
Plowden was certainly telling it like it is and your picture illustrates it perfectly!
A wonderful image !
I echo David Plowden’s sentiments! I love that dramatic sky!
Quelle maison et vue quel rendu sur le pavage génail.
amitié
poor little house, i can see that it’s still trying to look welcoming…
Indeed. This is an aspect that I have difficulty understanding of your culture (which I admire).
I like this image.
Beautiful sky and love that little splash of pink purple from the blossoming tree.
It looks like a place built specifically for some experiment.
Lots of the small towns in the Midwest have many abandoned buildings. The town I grew up in is almost unrecognizable any more.
does make one wonder what happened or what was the story here, Sherri. another fine shot
when i see an empty house Sherri… i try to think of all the joy that once was between the four walls… life is good….peter:)
