i stopped on the road, looked up at the dangling line, looked down the road to see if there was another power line pole, and noted there wasn’t. that’s when i realized civilization as we know it ends in jackson county, arkansas. right there on the end of that line.
Thoughts are the shadows of our sensations: always darker, emptier, and simpler than these.
— Friedrich Nietzsche said that
It has to end somewhere. That is such a cool image.
A great image! I just never thought about power lines ending and here it is!
powerful shot (pun intended)
Is this when we say “all good things must come to an end???” I just Googled that quote and found out Chaucer said some variation of it in 1374! 🙂
Somehow I imagined they would just continue forever, if necessary doing a wide sweep round to meet up again
Ce n’est pas la fin du monde pour autant.
Une image et tout un symbole…
Everything has to end
‘it’s the end of the world as we know it, and i feel fine lalala’… i have already lived thru many ends of the world 🙂 not to brag or anything hehe lovely picture, sister
J’adore une magnifique photo ! j’adore
Should have paid their bill 🙂
Fascinating ! Superb capture .
Good detail well seen.
Here the network collapses!
Truly the end of the line. I like how you presented this so it looks desolate and abandoned.
it truly is desolate and abandoned
when i say i stopped in the road, i mean there wasn’t a soul around for miles and miles
An image of other times, there are only those who are Indian or the outlaws intent on cutting the cables.
Et oui, tout a un début et une fin ….
it is elegant in its simplicity and i like the thought about shadows, Sherri.
Well photographed, in Holland all cables are underground.
An excellent image and observation. We can’t really get along without electricity. When I was young, long ago, I remember one farm family that did. They used oil lamps for their lighting needs. That was unusual even then.
you found the end of the line Sherri… they could have at least rolled the end up and hung it on the pole… cool shot….peter:)
Que c’est impressionnant! Bisou, bonne soirée tout en douceur!
Ce fil quei pend qui flotte quelle vue et ancienne installation électrique sueprbe

Perfect work here!
A powerful image, fantastically framed obsolete subject. Beautiful b/w
What an expanse and abandonment there at the end of your line !
Interesting. A feeling of ending and emptiness
