Red Winged Blackbirds are interesting ones. When I walked to school as a kid, these birds would build nests, in ditches, beside the road if there was enough water to support cattails. A beautiful capture especially with the surprise. 😉

I can see how they startled you as they came out from the tall grasses there! I love textures in the grasses and how the birds almost appear like silhouettes. I see striping that make me think these were red-winged blackbirds.

I like the bits of red, characteristic of red wing blackbirds. A fine reaction shot. My post was one of several shots I took of my bird; this is clearly your only opportunity.
