Ironically, rural America has become viewed by a growing number of Americans as having a higher quality of life not because of what it has, but rather because of what it does not have.

Really pretty barn. I don’t see many of that style around here.

A beautiful image. Having grown up in rural America, I must disagree with the quote. A lot is missing there and it’s not for the better.

the bright white of the roof is nearly lost in the featureless sky, but the red fencing makes a nice border.

WOW, Sherri. I really like that sentiment from Don Dillman. Asa I often say, quoting my sister,I think farm DNA is in all of us. Maybe that’s why we have the longing to return!

it doesn’t have neighbours complaining about your dog barking. it doesn’t have the busy noises of the street. it doesn’t have that kind of stress… love the pic!

Nice Mansard roof. re the quote that would be lack of pollution and development then I guess. Hardly Ironic as the reasons for that are all positive attributes

This reminds me of my grandfather’s barn from my childhood. I live in a ruRAL AREA AND MUST ADMIT I LIKE WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE.

so true. Plus what it once used to have. I love these ones you take with the negative space — all that sky is surely essential to the success of this fine image.

Interesting barn. The red railings are a bonus. I live in rural america for the very reason stated in your quote.
