Sylamore Creek

This is a section of Sylamore Creek where my husband learned to swim as a young child. The large rock is called Sylamore Bluff. It’s located in Mountain View, Stone County, Arkansas and this image displays the true color of the water. The chain or cord coming down the side of the bluff near the center of the image is a trotline. I refer to it as the lazy man’s fishing line.

What we remember from childhood we remember forever; permanent ghosts, stamped, inked, imprinted, eternally seen.

trotline indeed! I’m with you — lazy man’s fishing line.
What gorgeous colour, makes me feel the water must be clean for swimming. Not something that is possible everywhere anymore.

What a beautiful place. I love the color and the reflection. It reminds me of the springs near where my father grew up in southwest Missouri.

That is gorgeous. We have a glacial river near us with a colour very similar to that.

the bluff is quite attractive but looks dangerous for the tired swimmer to try to get safely ashore. I hope the bank you are standing on provides easier access for the beginning swimmer.
