There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so, he must first forget all the roses that were ever painted.

A lovely lovely dogwood!! Isn’t it odd how some bloom now, some then – some you never know when!
The Matisse quote relates to how I feel about photographing the grand canyon. How can I possibly present something that has been photographed a million times and by far better talent… one can only look for a unique perspective, view, color, angle, light… and try.

A beautiful tree! My pink dogwoods are doing poorly. They bloom rather sparsely.

I have two dogwoods, but they flower sparsely with white flowers. this one is beautiful, and so nicely photographed

Many fruiting trees do so BIANNUALLY so I guess this is an example of the same thing.
Not sure I agree with the MATISSE quote. Art like science or any other DISCIPLINE is a developing and evolving task of coming to grips with the world around us. We do this by building on the insights of our predecessors.
Nice composition and colour palette here

gorgeous — so many blooms!
I love how the tree seems to be softly protecting the hearses. And, great advice from Matisse.
