DON’T PANIC

If I wait for perfect conditions someone will park a truck in the view. The most I have waited in the rain for conditions to improve was five days. The picture wasn’t worth waiting for and isn’t in this book.

I was standing at an overlook, with my camera on a tripod pointing at a bright orange foliaged hillside in the smokey mountains. a guy came up to me and asked “are you tracking a bear?” I replied, “no, i’m waiting for the clouds to move so that the orange is uniform across the hillside.” “Wow,” he said, “you must take some really great pictures.” I stood there for over an hour, and clicked maybe 4 or 5 times, and one of them was the best shot of my long weekend in the park.

For most of us we take what is there when we are there. That is why we are not pros

HA! Five days! I suppose if you were paying for the stay, like on vacation, that would be a real bummer, unless you really like rain, as I do!

i think that five day wait in the rain for a picture is a symptom of a larger problem lol

Ha ha, a cool shot. I don’t think I would wait for five days, in the rain, to get a photo. I would shoot it in the rain.

What an incredible pairing and, not only that, but I’m amazed at the quote you DID find! Now that either takes extraordinary research skills or great recall. I’m impressed!
